Socket Repair Membrane  Features & Benefits

Zimmer Dental is pleased to announce the launch of the Zimmer® Socket Repair Membrane for sale in the US.

The new Zimmer Socket Repair Membrane provides a time saving, predictable product and a simple, proven technique delivering confidence into the hands of clinicians. It is designed to assist wound healing in alveolar facial plate repair and residual ridge preservation following atraumatic, flapless single-root tooth extractions.

A Variety of Clinical Advantages

  • PhotoMade of Type I Collagen, among the most important stress-carrying protein structures in the body1.
  • Pre-cut to fit single root sockets, saving the clinician time and limiting waste.
  • Contains graft material by capping the socket with the circular portion of the membrane.
  • Helps retain the post extraction buccal wall preventing the bone particles from dispersing into the tissue and preventing the migration of the epithelial cells into the site2.
  • Manufactured exclusively for Zimmer Dental and indicated for socket repair, differentiating the Socket Repair Membrane from other membranes.
  • Easy-to-follow, FLAPLESS, 6 - step technique guide (also included in the IFU) provides a simple solution to a common clinical need.
  • Developed in conjunction with Dr. Dennis Tarnow at NYU to help maximize long term esthetic results and function.

Technique Advantages

  • The socket repair procedure utilizes a FLAPLESS technique, leaving the soft tissue intact and preserving its natural architecture and vascularity, qualities important for esthetics and healing.
  • Guided bone regeneration procedures are performed inside the socket by lining the defect with the bioabsorbable collagen membrane prior to applying bone graft material. This technique is designed to block fibrous encapsulation of the graft particles and to help stabilize the graft material.
  • An external extension of the membrane is folded over the graft site and sutured to the soft tissue to contain the graft and aid in stabilizing the clot3 for healing.
